THE SAMEL COLLECTION OF JEWISH COINS AND OBJECTS, PART 2
Lot 6202 1

Herodian Dynasty, 40 BCE-96 CE. Herod Antipas, 4 BCE-39.
Æ-quarter denomination, year 34=30/31, Tiberias; 2,52 g. HPWΔΟΥ ΤΕΤΡΑΡΧΟY around a palm frond, in the fields L – ΛΔ (?)//ΤΙΒ? / PIAC within a wreath. Hendin no. 1209; Menorah Coin Project ANT 12, O1; Meshorer, Treasury 227 no. 85; RPC I no. 4928.
Rare. Nearly very fine/fine

Overbeck – Meshorer no. 127.In Overbeck-Meshorer this coin is listed as a coin of year 33, although Bernhard Overbeck mentions that the date is not sure. The obverse die of this coin (MCP ANT 12 O1) was only used in the year 34, so that (in our opinion) the coin was struck in this year, although the reverse die is not listed in the Menorah Coin Project.
