Der Kopf der Vorderseite zeigt die Züge Mithradates VI., so wie sie von seinen kleinasiatischen Tetradrachmen bekannt sind. Diese Goldprägung steht im Zusammenhang mit dem "Befreiungskrieg" Mithradates VI. gegen die Römer.
