Der antike Ort Apollonia lag am Lacus Apolloniatis (heute Uluabat Gölü), den der Rhyndacus durchfloß. Es ist nicht gesichert, ob Apollonia ad Rhyndacum auf eine milesische oder pergamenische Koloniegründung zurückgeht.

The ancient town of Apollonia was located on the shores of Lake Apolloniatis (now known as Uluabat Gölü), through which the River Rhyndacus flowed. It is unclear whether the city of Apollonia ad Rhyndacum was founded as a colony of the Milesians or the Pergamenians.
