294 v. Chr. kam Ephesos unter die Kontrolle des Lysimachos, der eine Neugründung der Stadt unter dem Namen Arsinoeia vornahm und damit seine Gemahlin, die berühmte Ptolemäerin Arsinoe II. ehrte. Im Rahmen der Neugründung, die die Stadt auf das zwischen dem Panayirdag und dem Bülbüldag gelegene Plateau verlegte, wurden dort auch die Einwohner der von Lysimachos zerstörten Städte Kolophon und Lebedos angesiedelt.

Ephesus came under the control of Lysimachus in 294 BC. He re-founded the city under the name of Arsinoeia in honor of his wife, the famous Ptolemaic Arsinoe II. As part of this, the city was moved to a plateau between the Panayirdag and the Bülbüldag, and the inhabitants of Colophon and Lebedos, two cities destroyed by Lysimachus, were also resettled there.
