Der Seher Kalchas erscheint auf dem Avers des Stückes als mythischer Stadtgründer, der auch mit dem Orakel in Kalchedon in Verbindung steht. Aufgrund dieses Orakels mussten sich die Einwohner von Kalchedon bei der Gründung einer Apoikia nicht an das Orakel in Delphi wenden. Calchas, the seer who is also associated with the oracle in Calchedon, appears on the obverse of the coin as the mythical founder of the city. Due to this oracle, the inhabitants of Calchedon did not need to consult the oracle at Delphi when establishing an apoikia. Cf.
