Kamiros lag im fruchtbaren Nordwesten von Rhodos. Das Feigenblatt erscheint wohl aufgrund der reichen Erträge an Feigen, die es dort auch heute noch gibt, auf dem Avers der Münzen von Kamiros. Kamiros schloß sich 408 v. Chr. mit Ialysos und Lindos zur neuen Stadt Rhodos zusammen.
The city of Kamiros was located in the fertile northwest of Rhodes. The fig leaf depicted on the obverse of the city’s coins probably represents the abundance of figs that grew there, and still do today. In 408 BC, Kamiros merged with Ialysos and Lindos to form the new city of Rhodes.
