Perseus ließ in seinem Krieg gegen Rom diese Stücke zur Bezahlung kretischer Söldner prägen. Er wählte den rhodischen Typ, da solche Stücke den Kretern bekannt waren und von ihnen akzeptiert wurden. Der Magistrat Hermias war möglicherweise der Sohn des alten Münzdirektors des Perseus, Zoilos (siehe Ashton in NC 1988, S. 29). Vielleicht stehen die Buchstaben Z-Ω auf dem Revers aber auch für Zopyros, dessen Monogramm auf anderen pseudo-rhodischen Drachmen erscheint (siehe Ashton in NC 1997, S. 191).
