Christian VI. ließ das Schloss in den Jahren 1733-1740 erbauen. Im Jahre 1794 wurde es durch ein Feuer komplett zerstört. Nach dem Aufbau zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts zerstörte im Jahre 1884 eine Feuersbrunst erneut das Haupthaus.
