Obwohl die Reverslegende der Münze eine autonome Prägung der Stadt Kabeira verkündet, kann aufgrund der Typengleichheit mit Prägungen anderer Städte (vergl. u. a. Hoover 242 (Amisus); 419 (Sinope)) und der Datierung geschlossen werden, dass die eigentlich ausführende Autorität Mithradates VI. war. Dieser bemühte sich zwar um eine nominelle Autonomie der kleinasiatischen poleis in Pontos und Paphlagonia (darunter auch Sinope, Amisus und Kabeira), ohne jedoch die Kontrolle gänzlich zu verlieren. Infolgedessen kann eine motivische Gleichschaltung der Bronzeprägungen dieser Städte beobachtet werden, die die hiesige Avers-Revers-Kombination, aber auch den Typ Dionysos/Cista Mystica und Areskopf/Schwert in Scheide betrifft. Although the reverse legend of the coin states that it is an autonomous issue of the city of Kabeira, the similarity in type to coins of other cities (cf. Hoover 242 (Amisus); 419 (Sinope), among others) and the dating suggest that Mithradates VI was actually the executing authority. Although the latter endeavored to achieve nominal autonomy for the poleis in Pontos and Paphlagonia in Asia Minor (including Sinope, Amisus and Kabeira), he did not relinquish all control. Consequently, the bronze coins of these cities bear the same motif, affecting the obverse-reverse combination of the present coin, as well as the Dionysus/cista mystica and Ares head/sword in a scabbard types.
