Obwohl die Reverslegende der Münze eine autonome Prägung der Stadt Chabakta verkündet, kann aufgrund der Typengleichheit mit Prägungen anderer Städte (vergl. u. a. Hoover 241 (Amisus)) und der Datierung geschlossen werden, dass die eigentlich ausführende Autorität Mithradates VI. war. Dieser bemühte sich zwar um eine nominelle Autonomie der kleinasiatischen Poleis in Pontos und Paphlagonia (darunter auch Chabakta und Amisus), ohne jedoch die Kontrolle gänzlich zu verlieren. Infolgedessen kann eine motivische Gleichschaltung der Bronzeprägungen dieser Städte beobachtet werden, die die hiesige Avers-Revers-Kombination, aber auch den Typ Dionysos/Cista Mystica betrifft. Although the reverse legend of the coin states that it is an autonomous issue of the city of Chabakta, the similarity in type to coins of other cities (cf. Hoover 241 (Amisus), among others) and the dating suggest that Mithradates VI was actually the executing authority. Although the latter endeavored to achieve nominal autonomy for the poleis in Pontos and Paphlagonia in Asia Minor (including Chabakta and Amisus), he did not relinquish all control. Consequently, the bronze coins of these cities bear the same motif, affecting the obverse-reverse combination of the present coin, as well as the Dionysus/cista mystica type. Cf.
